Emergent Microgrid believes that battery systems will fundamentally change how grid operators and system planners address future challenges.

Currently, markets throughout the globe are thriving - providing a service to utilities, load serving entities, and grid-operators. These services are referred to as Grid Services.

Grid Services take many forms. Demand response is one. Ancillary Services or Spinning Reserves are another. These services will pay owners of DER cash to have their batteries respond in real time to requests from energy market aggregators.

Though the future use-cases are still unknown, we have been able to solve one major barrier standing in the way of widespread deployment of battery energy storage systems.

Never before have the economics worked out such that battery systems, whether co-located with solar or stand-alone without renewable energy generation, are capable of generating a profitable return to owners and investors.
